Dear Ed, I have heard of these impositions on the Editors of the Newsletter and Profiles. In my years as a POCA member, I have written many articles for Profiles. I currently have a multipage and multi-illustrated article submitted to Mike Haney. I think it is one my best articles. As a contributing author, I can tell you that the apparent mandates in the MS email below will, in my opinion, have a negative effect on the layout and editing of my article. If this goes through and if it is as restrictive as I suspect, then it will very likely have a chilling effect on authors contributing to Profiles. Please reconsider this and let the Editor do what he is supposed to do. So, let me quote you some snippets taken directly from MS May 16, 2016 email Subject: Newsletter and Profiles printing/design henceforth: O/ Meanwhile, as a part of this change will also come full color printing on all pages in both the Newsletter / Profiles, a new printer, and mailing partner. O/ The existing printer will not print anything else for POCA after the June newsletter. O/ Your new printing partner is PrintingCenterUSA, O/ effective immediately we will begin to adopt layout designs/templa tes which will dedicate 20% of the total space to advertising content display. the Newsletter needs to be 32 total pages each month, 5 pages in total space needs to be evenly distributed in 1/8 page, 1/4, 1/3. & 1/2 page horitzontal ads and 1/2 page vertical ads plus a full page ad. O/ You will need to coordinate with Ed with proofs so that he will have the final say on ad placement before adthing is printed. O/ The vendor listings are to be removed. They will have to buy ads to reach our memb ers. O/ We also need to use ONLY the newly revised/cleaned up POCA Road Script and POCA crest. Completely detailed specifications are also set as fixed space allocations for both pubs without consideration for content adjustments. Dick, I have one of these and love it. Took several drill bits to complete the holes in my slab, but it was well worth it. Be aware that it doesn’t go high enough to walk around under. I use a roll-around mechanics seat. Mike

POCA business on this forum

OK, ENOUGH OF THIS. This forum is NOT a POCA based entity and, because of this, is not subject to the one-sided rigors of acceptability as applied to the Club Website and its forum by the existing POCA hierarchy. Within the realm of common decency, people are free to post their opinions on any subject matter. This is still America. I am personally sick of the chastising and branding that has transpired in recent months. I am done with the double speak (think Ministry of Truth) that calls people who were moderately content with the club "malcontents", while the ones who seem to have loathed everything about the club and NEED to change it all are now self identified as "progressive". If you don't want to be exposed to any dissenting opinions, stick to the safe, protected POCA .COM forum. Everything is just wonderful there. OK, ENOUGH OF THIS. Dear Forum, No Pantera content, but as usual with Dan Jones' prose and passion, there is particular appropriateness for Pantera aficionados. I will quote excerpted sections from today's WSJ column on his review of the Chevy SS. The Chevy SS: Hello, I Must Be Going ".....So, I brought the right car: the Chevy SS, a four-door, five0seat muscle sedan, with a 415-hp pushrod V8, six-speed manual transmission, limited-slip rear diff, and a provocative proclivity for acceleration that will certainly jerk a knot in it. All for $48,570. I know, sounds interesting, right? Oh, It is. The Chevy SS comes to these pages with-how to put it delicately?---the reek of death upon it. The car, a re-badged Holden Commodore, is destined for extinction because GM is closing the Holden assembly hall in Elizabeth, South Australia. Aussies are bummed, obviously. I feel for them. If I bought one of these cars I might feel a twinge of guilt, even as I was laughing my head off. I have never seen a sedan so underpriced, relative to its performance and equipment. Please, old timers, let's compare notes. When has a car company ever given it away like this? Look at the boxes this thing ticks. First and most important: a rare Tremec six-speed manual transmission , with a real foot-pedal clutch and bolt action-the taut, thrumming gearshift lever connected to something mechanical-a throwback to a time before mechatronics. The press materials say a paddle-shifted automatic is also available. Only a psychotic would order this car with the automatic transmission. The Chevy SS is like an African game reserve filled with endangered technologies. Above the gearbox is a naturally aspirated 6.2 liter V8, with an output quoted at 415 hp and 415 lbs-feet of torque. That's right a naturally aspirated overhead valve V8, none of them tea kettle turbos and piccolo exhaust notes out of puny V6s. Responsive, rev-loving, throaty, twisty and shout-y with big torque and three-octave range, the Chevy's small block presence is irresistible. Too bad it's a dinosaur with an asteroid incoming."
