I have recently received some photos of Pantera 4932 from a registry newbie.. The car is now apparently for sale, but the new guy didn't include the advert text, so I do not know where it is offered for sale, maybe ebay. This is a black over black 1/73 L model, the seller may be Bill, as that is the last owner I had it connected to. She still wears Wyoming registration plates. If you know where the car is advertised, could someone post a link for the masses of potential buyers? This one has a buy it now price of $315K. http://www.ebay.com/itm/172241419978?forcerRptr=true&item=172241419978&view… This kind of reminds me of the urban legend that the handful of owners of original 427 cobras all decided to list their cars for sale for outrageous money...many, many times the current value. With the extremely limited number of cars built they were able to influence the market and raise the prices of their cars almost overnight (or so I heard). Dear Scott, Charlie is a Pantera stalwart, but.....the Scandinavian owners are no slouches. I suspect that they're limited by the weather from being as wide ranging as Charlie. All, I drove my Pantera from Iowa to St. Charles, IL to attend the Great Lakes Pantera chapter's Spring Fling. I've attended all of these since the first one three years ago. As usual, it was good to see old friends and meet new ones. I believe Jon Haas has attended all of these events to showcase his electronic products designed for the Pantera. It is always enjoyable to talk to Jon and see him demonstrate his stuff. This year it was fortuitous for me to have Jon attend because for the first time in 30 years I had car trouble. The car ran great on the drive to St. Charles and it ran with no problems to the cars and coffee event we attended on Saturday morning. Come Sunday morning when we are getting ready to leave the hotel for breakfast, my car wouldn't stay running. It started immediately and then died. Lots of cranking followed with no start. Dave Doddek (GLP chapter president) immediately came to my aid to diagnose the problem, as he is prone to do. He pulled a plug wire and determined there was no spark. He checked for moisture in the distributor cap (there was none), he checked for loose connections on the firewall (there were none) he looked at the fuse box for anything out of the ordinary (there wasn't). By this time Jon joined in the investigation (after all....I was holding everybody up to go to breakfast). During Dave and Jon's troubleshooting, I was able to start the car a couple of times but then it wouldn't start afterwards. Dave had mentioned that the terminal block under the steering wheel column can cause problems and after looking at it, it was determined that that was the source of my intermittent ignition problem. My terminal block was corroded so bad that the screws holding the wires could not be turned. Jon said he usually carries that terminal block with him but he left in such a hurry for the event he didn't pack any. He then proceeded to make a field repair using a combination of a smaller connector and spade connectors to connect the wires without the terminal block so I could drive the four hours home. As you are all aware, working under the steering column with the seat in is not very comfortable and there is not much room to work with the short length of wire. Jon spent at least 30 to 40 minutes on his back fixing my car, which worked perfectly after he was done and got me home without incident. The help and assistance offered by Dave and Jon were greatly appreciated by me and demonstrate why I love being a part of the Pantera family. Oh...and by the way. Jon also diagnosed that my brake switch on the shuttle valve was the reason my brake lights didn't work (as I found out driving to the cars and coffee) by another Pantera owner driving behind me. Is this switch special to the point I need to get it from an vendor or is it a common NAPA part? A few weeks ago I attended a Supercar event in Northern Spain. There was an amazing collection of cars - including a Koenigsegg Agera S from England, bunches of Ferraris and Lambos, McLaren, etc. As usual, one lone DeTomaso waving the flag. Had a fantastic time - a police escort with probably 30 motorcycles and a dozen cars that shut down the city allowing us to leave, and stop traffic along the entire 2 hour tour to keep the group together and protect us from pesky speed traps. Here's a video of the first few cars leaving - the highlight is about 45 seconds into the video - I guess my foot slipped a little on the clutch. I'll try not to let it happen again. Kidding aside, what is the best sounding car there in your opinion? IIRC he was in a head on collision with an oncoming driver making a left turn across his lane. It was when driving it home from the Norwegian port where he had the car shipped from the US after his purchase. Agreed! Get the Pantera Electronics EIS and it will cut off the AC whenever you romp on it so you get those ponies back and working where you need them most. Good Morgan to POCA list, I have about 5k on my engine rebuild. It has been running perfectly! I attended the Los Wages Fun Rally and the drive there early Thursday morning was great! Did Mt Charleston on Saturday and Valley of Fire on Sunday. No problems and things still running great. Sunday I did notice my oil gauge being a little wiggy. Jumping around sometimes and sometime showing solid pressure. Sunday I filled up and checked the oil before heading back. I added a quart and the gauge read solid 70. Overfill?? Drove back to Pasadena late Sunday night. Cool air and the traffic was light. Engine purred like a kitten. I haven't driven it since then and last week saw a small coaster-size pool of oil under the car. I am planning to getting it up on ramps this next week and check where I might have a problem. Any suggestions on what things to check first? Oil pressure sending unit? Thanks. More after I get under the car. Now that Asa has added some positive and constructive thoughts on this forum, I would like to get some thoughts on a lift I am looking to buy to use in working on my Pantera (more like finally repairing it). http://www.asedeals.com/store/dannmar-portable-car-lift-maxjax/ The lift has been discussed many times on the forum. However, I would like to get some current information on folks that have installed the lift to work on their Pantera. As a reference, I have a two car, one double wide door garage that will not accommodate a full height fixed installation lift, or 4 post lift. Questions/Recommendations 1 - quality issues, such as hydraulic fluid leakage. 2 - vendor response to any product issues. 3 - lift installation problems/techniques. 4 - installation tips that relate specifically to the Pantera, such as it's 40/60 weight distribution. 5 - post tilt under load 6 - distance between posts necessary to allow enough room to open doors to "comfortably" work on the interior. (Yeah, I know that is an oxymoron) 7 - accessory and additional modification recommendations 8 - recs on sources to buy the lift, or not to buy.
