Fred,

The Performer RPM is a tall tarantula-style 2V intake whose port size is mismatched too your 4V heads. It is very, very good but that goodness comes with a price—tall height.

I be,I’ve some people have had success machining the top of the intake to both lower it, and make it flat, but your best bet is probably to just replace it with the regular Edelbrock Performer 4V, which has a much shorter profile that matches the stock intake. Part number 2665.

This change alone would probably give you the necessary clearance, but if not it would then be a simple matter to fit a drop base.

I will let Dan Jones tell you what the performance ramifications of this switch would be, but I’m willing to bet it would be unnoticeable. If anything you might even pick up low-end torque?

Cheers!

Mike
