[DeTomaso] Dropped Battery Solution for 6328

There are factory bosses on the 351C block on the passenger's side for use as an engine ground. That's what I use. I welded a 3/8" grade-8 bolt to the frame.

Plus, use a thin layer of grease on the ground.

I also have my battery mounted in the same area, so it grounds to the same bolt.

Access to the battery isn't as difficult as you'd think. I'm really happy with this setup. The battery is out of the front trunk, out of the way, cables are short, battery is a common size, etc. Nothing but positives. I got rid of a lot of heavy gauge wiring through the passenger's sill. My car cranks really fast.

The battery "box" is common. I believe I bought it at a local speed shop. It's all metal, so you just run a couple of beads, and it's in place. It isn't a full box. It's just, basically, angle iron/steel that holds 1/2 of the battery diagonally, with a second bracket that holds it down. It's similar to what you'd find on a 70's Ford. You've seen them before, but I'm not doing a great job describing it. I need my coffee.

    Ken,

More grounds is good grounds. There is a second factory ground cable from the rear of the transaxle to the rear of the chassis, and I was advised to add a third from one of the starter mounting bolts down to one of the engine mount bolts.
