Guys,

Realize that the steering shaft is a very complex piece with a decidedly non-simple profile, two different splines and threaded at one end:

Among other things it has provisions for the ignition steering lock. It also has different specific diameters for the upper and lower bearings. If one really needed one, it would be much cheaper to buy from a vendor than to make from scratch. 

It seems like the team blitz solution for the stock shaft is a no brainer. As a bonus it will accommodate a Momo wheel with no adapters. 

Problem solved, I think!
