Julian,

You do put forth a new approach option that hadn’t occurred to me. Maybe when I am bored some evening I will chase down that rabbit hole to see what can be found.

Just for the record the splined shaft for the steering wheel on our cars is 5/16 with 36 splines

As for the electric power steering from Scott, he doesn’t have a splined HUB problem. 

Machining a splined shaft is arguably much easier than broaching material, as it requires a dimensionally specific brooch and then machining to the correct length and angled taper. 

As you noted the offering from teamblitz is reasonably priced. 

The Grant GT series of wheels has a five bolt mounting pattern that is compatible with the aftermarket wheels as shown in the photograph. With adapters I’m quite sure any aftermarket wheel could be mounted with the teamBlitz splined hub
