[DeTomaso] Engine cover

I’ll get them to you - just have to wait a few days, since I have to do a little disassembly to show you. But I have to say, I’ve been reading these threads and holding off (for some reason) - and finally just had to say something. I got SO frustrated with those "rincky-dink" nuts, wobbling, etc. I just had to do "something", and it came out bitchin’. The seat thing is "really" nice. So quick & easy, especially creating the "location pins" - just a longer 8mm - all have the same heads.

Over thirty years mine are suffering attrition and I have been wondering how to fix it to keep the hatch cover secure. Would you have any pictures of your elegant efficient modification? I am very keen to see it.

Here's what I did 10 years ago and been thoroughly happy ever
     since:
Get rid of the old square nuts, grind off their carriers, drill
     the
holes to accept an 8mm allen-head stud (of varying lengths), and
     use
clip-on capture nuts to accept the 8mm studs. I did the same with
     the
seats, running the 8mm allen-heads up from the bottom of the car
     and
now act as locating pins for the seat railings with acorn nuts on
     the
inside. Now, I can remove the seats and engine cover with the
     same
electric screwdriver and be looking at the engine in less than 5
        minutes. It's very slick
