[DeTomaso] CV half shaft conversion - opinions

Larry, 

You would think that the CV shafts would need to be longer without the adapters but ,in the case of SACC parts, you would 
be wrong.  When the axle flanges were produced, Scott designed them to use the same axle length and made the mating surface
of the flanges the same distance from the trans/wheel hub centerline as the stock flanges with the CV adapters bolted on. 
So , to answer your question, YES. You can use the same length CV axles with or without the adapters. ( On the SACC parts
anyway) I am not aware of anyone else doing it this way. It is not ideal IMHO ( the longer the axle is, the less angle there is on the
CV joint ) but that's the way it is.

   Are the CV shafts the same for either installation application? i.e.;

   If I got a set to run now with the adapter style flanges, could I later

   on install the CV specific ZF flanges and reuse the same shafts and

   other appurtenances?

   Are there CV specific flanges for the wheel end also?
