[DeTomaso] “Rubber” muffler isolators

I was once given a new hanger for my Pantera when I first got it, and it
proceeded to "melt" over the course of a couple long trips. The bottom
bolt closest to the muffler was starting to break through.  This was of
course unacceptable.  I purchased new real-rubber hangers and they far
outlasted that weird one.  I never had to change them again, even after
three Silver State runs at high-speed.

I don't know the vendor the bad one originally came from, but if the
hanger you have isn't flexible, I wouldn't trust it.  Or maybe apply
some high-heat (no flame) to it and see how it holds up before you use
it.  But then again... if it melts, your out the cost of the hanger.
Maybe buy another one, or two, like Mike Drew indicates. They're cheap
enough.
