[DeTomaso] A great thing

Hi guys,

Garry Choate stumbled across this great thing at Harbor Freight.

When changing a clutch, it's required to raise the rear of the drivetrain with a jack, then support it at an angle while removing the gearbox. It's a bit awkward to jack up the back of the oil pan but that's the way we all do it.

Until now.

Harbor Freight sells this dandy engine support bar:

It's designed to hold up the engine on front wheel drive cars while removing the gearbox. But it can easily be adapted to our needs. It has a pair of rubber padded feet which jam into the crease in the fenders between the fender and the weatherstripping, holding it securely. A pair of threaded hooks with chains allows you to lift the drivetrain, although its much better to lift it with a jack into position, then hang it with the tool and withdraw the jack.

When you're done it looks like this:

I think he said he paid about $65 for it. Money well spent!
