[DeTomaso] ommission - ZF gear oil weight

I'll go with Leslie Gray's experience.
Most GL-5 oils say "approved for use with limited slip diffs" on the bottle, which means they have the "extra slippery additives." I guess if you could find some that didn't say that you could use it.

But the Redline is NOT that expensive, guys, and for most owners there is no reason to change it every year

Here's Leslie's email from a while ago:

The Red Line oil NSdesignation means that in this particular oil there is NO
additive added to reduce the clutch chatter in most limited slip differentials.
Normally this additive is a good thing and almost mandatory in cars like the
Corvette which has a fairly high degree of limited slip lock up.
Our cars have a two issues with these extra slipperyadditives. Number
one is our diff uses a rather low limited slip lock up so this extra slip
actually decreases what little lock up we have. Number two is this additivewill
inhibit our synchro rings ability to do its job and in extreme cases will burn
up the synchro rings and the towers on the gears costing big bucks.
I've rebuilt ZF's since the late 1970's and have replaceddozens of synchro
rings & gear sets due to the use of these additives.
As Jack DeRyke says "your mileage may vary" !!!!

   Friends,
Is there a consensus on what brand type gear oil for the ZF. Im using
redline in my F car and it is very nice.
I assume the diff is in the box also and share lubrication, the Ferrari
does not need a friction modifier as the
diferential is similar to a Porsche design and the clutches work wel
without it. I use Redline 75/90 NS.
Just curious what all you guys are using in your ZF's!

     All,
I just noticed I omitted a rather necessary bit of information.
Gear oil weight should be 80W90.
