[DeTomaso] Happy for 50 miles or so then not

If it sits overnight and doesn't improve, it isn't heat related.

My car used to die like that, and I thought it was heat related, but it was
the fuel filter. It was plugged with rust debris from the fuel tank.

But it would go away after about 30 minutes, and the a/f ratio wouldn't have
gone to 10.

Fortunately, there aren't many things it can be. Can't you borrow a
carburetor, distributor, coil, etc. from someone? Change one part at a
time, and you'll find it.

If I were still in town, I'd let you borrow all the parts needed.

Do you have electronic ignition? That happened on my Chevy Sprint, The
distributor module was going bad and it only took 50 miles at first but my
intervals were shorter and shorter. I could let it just cool all the way
down and make it home. It could well be just a bad ground or connector or
even a wire.
