[DeTomaso] Dumb Techno Question: Charcoal Cannister ?

The charcoal cannister has two lines. The first is plumbed from the tank 
into the cannister (that is undoubtably full of rust, varnish and assorted 
crud after 40 years), and the second line goes from the vented cannister back 
to the air cleaner so the engine eats up any excess fumes. If you take the 
cannister out, simply run the tank line to the air cleaner directly. If 
frequent backfires bother you, add one of those little $3.98 plastic filters 
inside the air cleaner as a spark arrestor.
