Some of the cable-adjustable outside mirrors attach to an L-shaped plate 
screwed to the door; one leg of the plate is vertical, slightly clear of the 
glass and the mirror screws directly to that bracket. These are 
all-mechanical connections- relying on glues and tapes often causes paint chips as the 
mirror separates on the road and bounces off body parts. Good luck- J Deryke
