Barry,

I did exactly that with a pair of baby turbos, however no need to glue them. I made the metal slightly oversize and just slid it down behind the window rubbers. They never moved and are easy to remove if need be.

On the baby turbos it pays to turn the mount backward, which moves the mirror back so that the vertical window slide is not in direct line of sight of the mirror.
