Sean,

The voltage regulator could also be a problem.  Just disconnect the long black plastic connector
from the voltage regulator.  It just pulls off, but grab it by the plastic, not by the wires.  : >)

The alternator could also cause the problem.  To check this, you will need to disconnect the 
wire that is connected to the "BAT" post on the alternator.  Make sure that you disconnect the 
battery before disconnecting that alternator wire, as that alternator wire is hot all of the time.
