Using a UV 'black light' source, you can see the gas level clearer thru the
sight glass, and set the float height as usual with the upper nut & screw
to just-visible, thus you don't need to make a mess (or a fire hazard) by
removing the sight glasses. If you bring the level up too high, just slowly
lower it until the gas level disappears in the sight glass.
FWIW, some Holley float bowls have non-removeable sight glasses built in,
while others (plastic aftermarket) are screw-in style. These last usually
have visible black rubber gasket-washers while the permanent ones are crimped
in place. Don't get the two mixed up or there'll be tears.... Good luck- J
