>>>And the dirty little secret was, no matter which version the customer
ordered and paid for, he just got the bone-stock truck motor! Colin Bradshaw
is an original owner of one the last GT5-S Panteras made (1989 model); he
ordered it from the factory with the expensive 'upgraded' engine. When it
finally blew up and they took it apart, it had never been touched--just a
bone-stock truck engine.

Another UK club member paid extra for a 4.00 ring and pinion. What he got
for his money was a gearbox with "4.00" stamped on the top. However, he
later did a side-by-side comparison with an identical car equipped with a
4.22 differential, and they turned exactly the same rpm at the same speed. So
for his extra money, all he got was a cute little stamping on the gearbox
case!

Ah, De Tomaso...:>)
