[DeTomaso] German looking for Pantera

Judging from the cars I see advertised in the POCA magazine there is no way this one is worth $35K.

Not started or driven in years??? Forget it unless someone has checked out the engine and transaxle, rebuilt the brakes and clutch systems, etc, etc,

Guten tag, Bernd
I've personally reviewed this car, located in a rather eclectic shop in
arnation, WA, a little town about 30 miles NE of Seattle, WA, on the US
est coast. Couldn't get much further from Deutschland.
The car presents quite clean. There does not appear to have been any body
amage, and what rust is visible appears to be largely on the surface. It
as been repainted in the original and very rare Aqua green, but, oddly,
ith the rear deck painted black. Said to have sat for many years, the
aint is in very good condition. The original early interior is in
xcellent condition, with the exception of the steering wheel center, and
he trim inside and out is good as well. The engine bay is fairly clean,
ut totally original with the undercoating, hoses and wires, and looking
ike it hasn't been cared for for a while.
I was not able to allowed to start the car to see how it ran (it supposedly
at in a barn not moving for many years before they found it), so I cannot
ttest to mechanical condition of either the engine or ZF transmission. The
F lever seemed to move smoothly enough in the gate. This inspection was in
une of this year, and recent news of those who have stopped to see the car
s that they still have not tried to start it. This could be confirmed by
ontacting the seller directly.
If there are no mechanical issues, this would be a very nice car to show or
rive once attention was paid to all the usual things that dry out over
ime, and a freshening of the fluids, brakes and cooling system.
The shop is called Vintage Motors, on line at www.giocars.com, and can be
eached by telephone at 425-333-5600. The owner's name is Jim Giordano.
've spoken to him a couple of times, and he seems like a pretty good
erson.
I believe other have replied, including Chuck Melton, who has a link to a
umber of photos which you may not have seen.
Please contact me directly if you wish.
Auf Viedersehen

Just the messenger ...

ello from Germany - I hope you can help me!
I have been offered a 1971 Pantera from a company in England.
fter some research I found the car being offered by a U.S. based vintage
ar dealer.
The car is said to be in very good shape (of course!) having a total mileage
f only 20,700 miles.
he color is Green Aqua (#V306 ) and they claim that the car had only one
wner from new.

Do you know this car? I am very thankful for any message related to the car!
have no idea if it is accident free and I got no eMail reply so far
nswering my questions.
I have learned that it can be extremely helpful to contact a vintage car
lub to find out about details and history of cars being offered by dealers.
am very ambitious to find a good Pantera for quite a while now, the offers
ere in Germany are either of poor quality or far too expensive.
If you have any information, please send me an eMail to: rathsberg at web.de or
can call you if you let me know your phone number.

hank you very much indeed and best regards from Germany!
