You would probably see some increase in low end torque with the smaller tubes.

Subject: [DeTomaso] Difference in Headers

Got a question for any of the header experts on the Forum. I
presently have what I believe (?) may be a set of Hall's
headers on my car that were on it when purchased in 2000.
These headers measure 2" OD. & were on a set of open
chamber 4V iron heads. With help from Dan Jones a few
years ago (THANKS again Dan!) the engine was rebuilt
after dropping a valve & I put a pair of closed chamber 2V
iron heads on it. I retained these headers at that time.
Today I made a great buy on a new & never installed set
of PI Big Throat headers with primarys that measure
1-3/4" OD. Question is, would it behoove me in any way to
install these new headers or are the larger ones now on the
car better left alone? Could any change in performance,
sound, mileage, etc. be expected with these smaller tube
headers. Thanks for any answers you can provide.
