[DeTomaso] 351 and 302 Distributer Compatibility

I bought an MSD oil plug w/ cam sync for a 302.  It was a deal, and the 351C version is basically impossible to find.  I don't need one, but it was cheap so I figured that is might be worth having and maybe I can switch the electronics to a 351C dist for a sequential EFI signal if I ever want to.  I got the thing, and compared it to a 351C dist, and the only difference I see is the hex for the oil pump drive looks smaller, and I assume the gear would need to be swapped.  The housings look identical and the locations of the gear look identical???
 
Can anyone shed some light on the differences between 351C, 351w, and 302 distributors?
