[DeTomaso] Convention ideas

Agreed most Pantera owners (except a core of true diehards) will not travel long distance for purely a track event. IMO the synergies between the Fun Rally + track event should not be under estimated and the Fun Rally has evolved with both for some years to cater for 'young and old' alike. The track participation in years past speaks for itself and it was estimated by some that up to 30 people did not attend the Reno event this year due to no track. IMO the best way to test if that is true is to give Reno at least one more year with the track and see how attendance is before passing final judgement. That said I would also not advocate that the Fun Rally stay in Reno for the next 25 years, mainly becaue by then I'll be old enough to need to be somewhere else so I can bitch about how good Reno was 25 years ago.

BTW the track is back in full swing and even has a new more modern website http://www.renofernleyracetrack.com/ They seem to have a rapidly filling calendar of events/track rental dates, all good news for us locals adn PCNC next year.

Like they say you can "never please all of the people all the time" and I recognize there are a large proportion of 'maturer' Pantera owners who want nothing more than to reminisce about events past in the hospitality suite. Well the hospitality suite in both venues has no windows, so it really don't matter where you are; the beers free, the snacks plentiful and did you hear about the time we had 800 Pantera's lining Fremont St?

On the other hand I hear Palm Springs is a nice community and has lots of capacity with wide roads for street drags between the overly long red lights.

See ya next year wherever.... as long as there's a track involved.

Nomex donned :>)
