[DeTomaso] Cooling system Reverse Flush?

Greetings fellow Earthlings,
Can anyone advise me on the prefered  procedure for a reverse flush?
With probably 22 feet(guess) of travel I would think it would be a good thing to do now and then.
I already have heater shutoffs installed so could I just hook up a tee fitting instead and hook up the garden hose,open up the rad drain and blast away?
Should I pull the thermostat?
Any good ideas out there?
