[DeTomaso] cooler air to engine

Richard,

Aren't you answering yourself here? If the car is getting air from side scoops at speed it's getting air from the same scoops when static. This pickup point for air should BTW be among the coolest around a car, particularly if it's exhausting radiator air exclusively through the front hood.
