[DeTomaso] Long throw!

I just had a ride testing my new clutch. As fare as engagement is concerned it is great.

To slippery then to apply any power to see if it holds up.

I did wrote about how soft a pedal I had, which surprised me a lot. Well, after sorting

things out it come down to that this pressure plate needed by FARE more throws than I

thought. If I remember right 3/4" cylinder stroke is like original. The racing thing managed

with 1/2". This one takes some 1 5/8"! I now have a 3/4" master and 5/8" slave.

I would rather have used something in the line of 1" master an 13/16" slave for the

same ratio, but better size for the load in question. However, the pedal did get a lot

heavier then, so things are back to normal. I could have gone a little larger slave,

but the problems are that the rubber seals are not available in those dimensions.

Lets see if anyone could come up with a good reason for this long distance pressure

plate finger travel? If there are any other than "this is what it turned out to be".

I think it is, with regards to what we talked about before. This is todays christmas

thinking.
