[DeTomaso] SHIFT LINKAGE ADJUSTMENT / Dick Ruzzin

Dick

Adjusting the side to side positioning of the shifter is not difficult;
however, it is tedious. At least with respect to the methodology I employ.

I make the adjustment on the shift linkage at the turnbuckle between the aft
two universal joints. Obviously, with one of the locknuts loosened, it is
easy to rotate the turnbuckle for percise positioning of the shift lever.
The problem is when the locknut is firmly snugged into place the shafts
always rotate a slight amount relative to one another. One learns quickly
that a small shift at this location is amplified at the lever where it
touches the gate. Eventually, you figure out approximately how much the
shafts shift relative to one another when you tighten the locknut and adjust
accordingly.  Patience is your friend.

Good luck
JT
