[DeTomaso] Carb questions

I improved 6/10ths of a sec at the drags and improved driveability by dropping from a 750dp to a 600 vacuum sec in my old 'Cuda. Bigger isn't always better. I lost some top end 120-130+ but never missed it.....OK, almost never.

and woofly down low, only delivering peak performance at stratospheric revs.
My car had a 750 DP when I bought it; I swapped it for a 650 DP and noticed
an immediate performance improvement. However, after I had my motor rebuilt
and hotted up a bit, the 650 had lots of snap down low but it ran out of steam
at 5500 rpm, so I compromised with a 700 DP which seems absolutely perfect.

>>>Neither. Just ordinary flat washers is fine. Use a 1/4 inch ratchet so
you can resist the temptation to over-torque them.

>>>That's the standard, approved technique. Hopefully you won't need to
scrape the gasket; the carb gasket should easily lift right off.
