You don't think that the 0.019 inch backlash is going to be a problem? From what I have read on the adjustment it seems that all the literature suggests between .008 and .012 inch backlash.
Replacing these bearings was a lot simpler than I originally anticipated.

Be less concerned with the coast-side of the gear 'cause its only effect will be to cause a 'whine' in the tranny when you let off the gas. A poor pattern on the drive side will not only whine, it will cause lube heating and more wear to the teeth since its transferring much more power. Some problems simply cannot be adjusted out without swapping gears. ZFs are/were sold in matched pairs of ring & pinion and you've doubtless already noticed that the pinion is integral with the mainshaft so mucho complicated to R&R. Good luck on assembly- J deryke
