The GT5 ignition switches were also problematic as they turned down at an angle so that ones right knee would break off the key inside of them rather often. I found that they used the same key blank as my DeTomaso Innocenti.

DeTomaso switched to the angled ignition switch after chassis #9395. #9375 was the first GT5-S built, so it’s safe to say the vast majority have the later switch. 


The two plastic ignition switch surrounds changed at the same time. 


I don’t know what the source was, but it’s likely a newer (that is, the same 1980s period) European Ford.
