[DeTomaso] Anyone used ARP bell housing studs?

I started using allen set screws for valve cover studs.

I like them better than ARP studs. They're easier to install with the allen heads, plus the coarse threads seem to hold better. I've had ARP studs loosen, since you can't really tighten them enough (fine threads) without squashing the v/c too much.

I've also switched to bolts for oil pans. I used to be a hard advocate for studs on the pans, but it's just easier to install with bolts - in my opinion - often on my back looking up.

I use the Drew approach in number of places and cut a slot in tapered
end so a screw driver can be used for removal.

Ken,
I got long bolts (8 inches) of the appropriate size, cut the heads off
and ground them to a point. Thread them in and they become locating
pins. Itas super easy to slide the gearbox into place. Then bolt the
remaining holes, remove the pins and fit the final two bolts.
Did I remember to bring this with me when I helped install a ZF a few
weeks ago? No, I did not. Would it have made life MUCH easier? Yes it
would!

work. Have a rounded end which may make aligning the trans axle with
the engine easier. Would need two of these kits:
