[DeTomaso] Holley Sniper

Ken,

I have an open plenum with fairly long runners and its far better than a carb specifically calibrated for my crate engine. The aggressive cam had baf surge and stumbling under 2800rpms, but ran great above that. With the Terminator, drivability is very good down to about 1600 and sort of acceptable to about 1300 now. Incredible. May not be as good with a dual plane manfold, but it's easy to trim out some of the divider with a Dremel tool if needed.

Also, Holley Terminator isn't normal TBI injection with a big injector sitting over each throttle blade. The Holley injectors supplies fuel through an evenly perforated ring tucked into the ID of each throttle bore. You get all the power advantages of evaporational cooling under the blades like a carb plus great cold and hot starts even with a poor vacuum sign to work from. Port injection is very efficient, but takes away the horsepower advantage from the enormous drop in F/A mixture temp under the carb.

Plus it looks like a carb from 1' away.

I would never have gone away from a carb until they came out with this.

I have read that a single plane manifold has better peak power, but adjacent, consecutive firing, runners steal fuel in the plenum at low and moderate RPM. The only solution I can think of is an EFI with separate injectors for each cylinder. A throttle body EFI system can't do that. It may not make a lot of difference, and if you want a nasty sounding engine maybe you want the the fuel stealing. But if you want a very derivable car, and are going to EFI, I think it is worth using a single plane modified for injectors.

Very good EFI system. Use the master kit to avoid problems, includes
fuel pump. Follow the instructions to the letter. The EFI is not the
cure all, if you have engine problems, fix engine problems fist. If
your engine is running great, but your carb sucks, this will be will be
  the answer.

I'm about ready to pull the trigger and go EFI. Holley Sniper seems to
be reasonable and reliable. Anyone here done that? If so, what did you
do for a fuel pump and where did you mount it?
  Thanks,
