Well, thanks, but I'll leave the MIG('s) to the Russians, I'll take an F22 Raptor any day . . .

Good luck. If you were close enough, I'd pop over with my MIG and we'd get 'er done.

I'm sure anyone else on the list would do the same - providing they have MIG and can travel.

Right, I've ordered a Cape chisel so I can give it a go. I'm sure with all of you guys helping me we'll get 'er dun.
Thanks one and all once again!

I think I’m with Jack on this one. Use something to cut race, it is probably not that hard. Here, I’d whip out the Leatherman and use the edge of the file like a small hacksaw blade until I was nearly through. Then I would use a chisel or punch on an outside edge to force it to collapse to the center. Then pull it out.

That one does not look like the one extracted years ago, and was easier to get out.

I've tried to remove the race with the puller but it keeps popping out and is scoring inside of the race and rounding the inner edge where I'm trying to get it to hold on. There is such a narrow lip on the race on the inside, the puller just deflects enough to let go and ends up rounding the edge and scoring the inside of the barrel.

Trying to drill it out would take multiple large and I'm sure very expensive bit to drill the hardened steel as the hole is now 0.92". I could try threading with a 18/16" tap but as said in a previous response very difficult with in the hardened steel.
