  Everyone has different tastes.

DCTs do have some advantages.

The idea of adding automation to a pure drivers car sounds terrible
   unless it's for a disability.

A fully manual sequential box would be the best of both worlds.
Instantaneous gear changes with the full control of a manual.
Unfortunately, there aren't many good options with our size and
position constraints and some of those boxes require maintenance more
often than a helicopter. A few exotics used automated sequential boxes
on their road cars before the incredibly heavy/high rotational mass DCT
crap became trendy with the subservient crowd that prefers to let 20+
computers control how they drive a car. Some DCTs weight more than a
fully dress LS3 Chevy engine. A light weight reliable sequential box
would be a lot of fun and still allow you actually drive your car.
