[DeTomaso] Gas Pedal Effort/Feel

Jeff,

There never was a spring at the pedal. The spring was at the carb only.

Aftermarket throttle cables have a built-in spring at the carb end. If you were really serious about wanting extreme pedal effort you could fit a new cable. That plus the dual springs would be way excessive so you would probably remove one of them.

How tight are your existing springs at idle? Where are they attached? It’s possible you have them attached incorrectly at one end or the other so that they are not doing their job properly?

I fixed it by adjusting the pedal stop but the feel is still light. The cable appears to be original and I replaced the single spring at the carb with a dual spring. This did not change the pedal feel but did help in having an improved and more consistent idle speed. I am now wondering if replacing what appears to be the original spring at the pedal would give me a firmer/stronger effort pedal ? If so where can these springs be sourced ?
