[DeTomaso] Gas Pedal Effort/Feel

The gas pedal effort on my car is extremely light. When I acquired it there was actually a small dead spot before the cable actuated the carb. I fixed it by adjusting the pedal stop but the feel is still light. The cable appears to be original and I replaced the single spring at the carb with a dual spring. This did not change the pedal feel but did help in having an improved and more consistent idle speed. I am now wondering if replacing what appears to be the original spring at the pedal would give me a firmer/stronger effort pedal ?  If so where can these springs be sourced ?
