Thank you for the information and installation details you provided it was most helpful.

Did you see this belt?  What do you think?

Hi Frank,

I just went through this exercise. I tried three different venders and found one that would fit from SeatBeltsPlus.com (for some reason my previous response didn't go through)

Part number AC12

https://www.seatbeltsplus.com/product/AC12.html

You will need to remove the plastic cover that comes with the retractor spool and it will fit within the flanges on the bracket on the bulkhead behind the seats. Since the spool is larger than stock, you will need to either modify your existing covers, or fabricate new ones out of Sheet metal. I was able to make covers on my 3D printer that have the right profile and of the right size.

The fixed end of the seatbelt will mount under the rocker plate. If you don't want to cut your original seatbelt to remove the plate, you will need to source replacements. I was able to get a couple from Mike Mayberry. I also used a bracket used in baby seats to shorten the seatbelt under the rocker plate to make the new belt shorter, so it would retract faster.

On the receiver buckle side, I suggest getting the hardware kit from seatbeltplus to allow the buckle to rest in the proper position without twisting the stiff cable.

I ( and my wife) are very happy with the results!

Regards,

Dennis

  Hi All,

Is there a modern replacement for a 1974 late model "L" seat belt?

Mine are the original Klippan with two retractors one at the fire wall

and one at the floor and a short stationary latch belt bolted to the

floor by the consol. I want to keep the original seat belt style and

function, however it is time for and upgrade to modern materials.

  Many Thanks
