[DeTomaso] "All metal" Shifter - Improvement?

I had Dennis do mine.

I sent him everything. I believe he cut off my ends, and welded them onto a new shaft. It has the rod-end for the trunnion support. He also replaced the u-joints.

I'm very happy with the result. I even switched to a normal gated plate at the top. When I got my Pantera, a previous owner had cut the gates. I don't "need" the gates, but I also don't need to have them cut out. It shifts very cleanly.

The reason Dennis sells this as a two-part kit is I believe because (at
least on my GT5) the shaft is machined to accept an imperial rod end
rather than sourcing the correct diameter metric rod end.

       Joe,
       Now you're talking!
Pantera Performance Center sells a replacement bearing and rod that was
one of the better upgrades on both my car and Lori's. Although I
suppose one could get away with just the bearing alone, they include a
       rod with a hardened end.
