[DeTomaso] Looking for Alden Shocks

Dan,

I’m not surprised. They were garbage from the word go. I once shipped a brand new set to a friend in Europe, purchased from a Pantera vendor, and they were leaking in the box when they arrived there. One had zero damping action at all. Aidan said they would ‘fix’ then but would not pay for shipping. I wound up flying to Europe (coincidentally) and was able to hand-carry them back, had them repaired, and shipped them a second time. One then failed almost immediately The cost of shipping round trip exceeded the cost of the shocks—they thus went straight into the trash, an expensive lesson in “you get what you pay for, but not always”. I had tried and tried to convince the guy not to buy them in the first place but he got a ‘good deal’ and insisted thst I forward them on to him.

I shipped another set to another guy, after pleading with him to let me just return them. He installed them on his car and promptly failed his annual vehicle safety inspection because of worn-out and leaking shocks. They, too, went straight into the trash and he bought Konis instead.

There are any number of quality options available from Koni, Racetech and QA1. Take your pick, buy and install them, and be happy.

Chalk it up to bad judgement the first time. Don’t keep trying to make a silk purse out of a sow’s ear….
