Yes. It is true. My car was a Utah car that did not have an AC when I
relocated her to Florida. Years or restoration later with a new Wilkenson
system and she blew cold.........until a nice speed run on the interstate
that transitioned to a traffic light at the exit. Windows up and cabin
filled with white freon gas. I rolled windows down quickly and got several
people offering to get me out of what they thought was a burning car. Yeah,
it happens.

     A A Hi all
A A In the 20+ years that I've had my Pantera, the air conditioning
     has
A A only worked for a few sporadic months. It works fine when
     charged, but
A A we can't find the source of the leak, despite having changed
     nearly
A A everything that could be changed. So the system was charged
     again a few
A A weeks ago preparing for my trip to Le Mans Classic, and this
     guy did
A A find a crimp that looked suspicious, so we'll see how long I
     have cool
     A A air.
A A Anyway, I seem to remember that we all know that at higher
     speeds
A A (85mph+) there is a low pressure area behind the AC condenser,
     which is
A A why some people move them up front. I also seem to remember
     something
A A about the system pressure getting too high because of
     inadequate
A A cooling, and this high pressure causing the system to explode.
     Is this
A A correct? Is there a risk from leaving the AC on full speed,
     non-stop
A A for hours on end of high speed highway cruising with the stock
     A A condenser set-up?
     A A Thank you!
