[DeTomaso] steering noise question

My guess is tie rods, or perhaps the ball/socket piece that's inside the rack.

If you remove the tie rods from the spindle and them move them up/down/back/forth, it should all be smooth - fairly stiff, but smooth.

Or, it could just be a dry rack.

            You should be able to see the Ammeter move if the motor is
         working.
