[DeTomaso] The ADA Pantera: back on track after 24 years of absence !

So, we'll be racing in the South of France next weekend in category GT1 of
the French Classic Championship. The car is 50 % ready to my liking only,
as we haven't been able to install everything we wanted, like the flat
floor, the extended front spoiler and the extractor. Yet, it will be quite
similar to the Le Mans 1994 configuration and we all hope everything will
turn out fine on a track that the car, the team and myself will discover.
The most important modification we've performed since the first shakedown
two weeks ago is the brakes : new discs, new mastercylinders... Fingers
crossed as we shall have no reference to the "old" configuration. The track
sure looks like a fun place : technical, quick, wide, rollercoaster type !
Can't wait for the first laps ! Here is a little video to water your mouth
of a French gentleman and his coach in a Porsche GT3 !

-------------- next part --------------
So, we'll be racing in the South of France next weekend in category GT1
of the FrenchA Classic Championship. The car is 50 % ready to
myA liking only, as we haven't been able to install everything we
wanted, like the flat floor, the extended front spoiler and the
extractor. Yet, it will be quite similar to the Le Mans 1994
configuration and we all hope everything will turn out fine on a track
that the car, the team and myself will discover. The most important
modification we've performed since the first shakedown two weeks ago is
the brakes : new discs, new mastercylinders... Fingers crossed as we
shall have no reference to the "old" configuration. The track sure
looks like a fun place : technical, quick, wide, rollercoaster type !
Can't wait for the first laps ! Here is a little video to water your
mouth ofA aA French gentleman andA his coach inA a PorscheA GT3 !

A little digging around the web indicates Girling used "Silver
Cadmium" electroplating on calipers during this era.A This has been
changed to "Clear Zink" electroplating which is actually silver in
color.A A This change was due to environmental issues with the
     Cadmium.
I sure one of the scientists on this list can provide a better
description of the processes and differences.A
Here's an interesting article on caliper plating by Raybestos

A A My '72 had 4 silver calipers back in early '80. And
     cold-bloodedly, the
A A issue with cadmium affected the mfg due to workers inhaling hot
     fumes
A A from the electroplatng tanks, not the users. Finished
     assemblies are
A A safe to handle unless they were used with asbestos pads and are
     dusty.
     A A There's a spray-can application that adds 'cold galvanize'
     which is the
A A same zinc finish but not electroplated, and protects the iron
     surface
     A A the same way.

A A A little digging around the web indicates Girling used "Silver
     Cadmium"
A A electroplating on calipers during this era.A This has been
     changed to
A A "Clear Zink" electroplating which is actually silver in
     color.A This
A A change was due to environmental issues with the Cadmium.
A A I sure one of the scientists on this list can provide a better

A A A little digging around the web indicates Girling used "Silver
     Cadmium"
A A electroplating on calipers during this era.A This has been
     changed to
A A "Clear Zink" electroplating which is actually silver in
     color.A This
A A change was due to environmental issues with the Cadmium.
A A I sure one of the scientists on this list can provide a better
A A description of the processes and differences.
A A Here's an interesting article on caliper plating by Raybestos
