[DeTomaso] What good is a cracked upright?

Clear coat it ( so you can still see the crack), mount a Pantera model car or some other Pantera part to it & turn it into your chapter “ Hard Luck” award for the driver whose car seems to always suffer breakdowns for no apparent reason.
We did that back in the late 70’s for the San Diego Panteras club. We used an original Pantera shock which had the shaft which was REALLY bent badly. Mounted it to a piece of wood and made a rotating award on a yearly basis.

Guys,

I have a rear upright that is cracked about halfway through. It’s well on its way to failing which would be catastrophic. If you look at the pic below, notice the chipped paint on the near side edge. The crack is just to the left of the chip, running perpendicular to it, clear to the hole in the center of the casting:

It would be absolutely lethal to ever put this back on a car. It’s cast iron so can’t be welded meaning it can’t be repaired.

I am loathe to throw any Pantera part into the trash but I am struggling to come up with any possible use for this?

I welcome your ideas!

Mike
