Dear Jim,

            Inquiring minds want to know:

Pantera International Vol. 10 No. 2 Fall/Winter 1983 page38
This is The Pantera of The Quarter. Fred Fossett owned a
Pantera shop at the time (Kansas?) and describes the conversion of a Pantera
with a 1967 427 side-oiler using two Holley 780 cfm carb and a valve train
with sodium-filled exhaust valves, etc and an estimated horsepower of
approximately "475". Five photos accompany the article.

Pantera Int'l Vol 12 Nos. 2 & 3 Winter '85 & Spring '86. Two part
article: Transformation---A Rusty Pantera Into a Group IV 427 by Dennis
Quella. This article describes the resurrection of a rusty Pantera with
several photos of the process. This Pantera is powered by a 427 medium-rise
wedge with extensive modificatons of the rear frame rails, engine mounts,
extra bracing, etc.

There may be more 427 Pantera articles. I went as far as P.I.
Fall 1995. I did not check the Profiles.

So, it has been done at least twice in the past.

                           Historically yours, Chuck Engles

Hmmm I wonder if that was a wedge or the SOHC? The SOHC is quite a bit
larger as I recall.

Dear Mike,

IIRC, Pantera Performance Center transplanted a 427 into a
Pantera back in the late eighties--early nineties.

If that is correct, then it must have been quite a project.

                            Warmest regards, Chuck Engles

I seem to recall some one has tried this in past. Would be rather like
trying to put a size 14 foot in a size 10 shoe. . .
