[DeTomaso] Test: is the list up, or just quiet?

Good idea!  I have the Pantera Electronics fuse box as well, so all fuses have solid connections.  I suppose it's possible a wire could have come loose, so I'll give that a look too.

Garth, I went through a similar problem a few years ago.  I replaced the ignition switch thinking that was the problem.  I still had the issue after a new switch and eventually discovered that a wire going to my fuse box from the ignition circuit had come loose causing the engine to quit intermittently.  Sometimes it was flowing juice and sometime it wasn’t based on car vibrations.  Before you replace things  I would check every wire connected to your fuse box and also ensure all fuses are clean and tight.  I eventually installed Jon Haas’s fuse box upgrade to make sure I had solid wiring and fuses going forward.

Glad your Pantera got home safely from the highway.  I was lucky in that my Pantera did this on local roads only.  Mike R.

Garth,

This is a standard issue many have reported here before.

The coil gets 12V from both the ‘start’ and ‘run’ positions on your ignition switch. Your ‘run’ position has conked out. Nothing wrong with your motor.

Easily fixed….

So I pushed the clutch back in, worked my way to the right lane, and coasted off the freeway at the next exit and into a neighborhood where I could park safely and investigate what happened without the risk to life and limb (and the car) of distracted drivers playing with their phones when they should be focused on the road.
