Larry,
Ah yes, good!
I have the same heads and actually used a hybrid solution. I used
conventional Mr. Gasket on the heads, and I cut the ports portion away
from a MS96012 valley pan and suspended the center of it from the front
and back, to help prevent oil splash on the intake. I can't take
credit for that idea--it came from Dave McLain.

Mike,
Thanks. But......
My CHI 4V heads have no crossover.
That likely changes your recommendation??
and what happened to the Victor reinz gaskets??
BTW the MS96012 is a valley pan design.
What is a good conventional gasket if not using the valley pan style?

Larry,
The engineers who designed the 351C insisted that a valley pan
gasket must be used. This is because the intake manifold has an
exhaust crossover that routes some of the gas from the exhaust ports
into the intake under the carb, to promote faster warmup and better
fuel atomization.
This makes the underside of the intake very hot. The valley pan
gasket shields the underside of the intake from the oil splashing in
the lifter valley. Otherwise, the result can be coking of the oil,
leaving nasty deposits that can then pollute the oiling system, clog
passages etc.
For years the standard 351C gasket was the Fel-Pro MS96012. That's
for 4V heads. The 2V version is MS96010.
If your intake has been modified to weld up the exhaust crossover,
you can use conventional gaskets.
Whatever you do, under NO circumstances should you even remotely
consider using the Fel-Pri Print-O-Leak gaskets. They are beyond
horrible and have failed time and time again. The normal failure
mode sees the engine sucking oil from the lifter valley into the
inlet fir one or more cylinders, leading to poor running, high oil
consumption, fouling of the plugs and smoke out the exhaust. I have
no idea how Fel Pro can continue to make these things considering
how awful they are, in virtually every engine I've ever dealt with.
You and I mutually know a guy who decided his engine had gone bad
and pulled it from the car and commissioned a full rebuild when
there was nothing wrong except a bad intake manifold gasket!

All,
2511 shakedown miles have revealed oil leaking where the intake
manifold mates to the cylinder heads.
My notes show Dan Jones once recommended Victor Reinz 95078SG
gaskets but they seem to no longer be available?
Also mentioned by Dan were Mr. gasket 214 and the Fel-Pro
Printo-seal 1228 which at one point had a bad reputation for
leaking.
Did Fel-Pro fix their leaking problems and can the 95078SG gasket
still be found somewhere?
Wisdom and advice appreciated,
Larry
