Being the one who works on our car, being able to just pop the steering wheel off is a huge advantage when working under the dash.  To me, a no brainer for those who do their own work.  And besides, as you point out, much easier to get in and out.

Sean,

Several Pantera vendors sell removable steering wheel hubs. I consider them dumb for people who don’t need them, and brilliant for those who do. I think you have entered the latter category. 

With the steering wheel removed, entry and egress become absolutely simple. Go for it!
