[DeTomaso] Strange electrical - instrument / dash light problem

Hopefully the attached picture of the back of the switch of my 73L will come
through.
I'll also send it direct to the three of you in case the forum strips it.

The combo red/white wire connector attaches to the post nearest you in the
picture.
The red wire triggers the headlamp door relay.
The white wire feeds the high/low beam switch.

The orange feeds fuse 3 & 4 which feed the running lights and instrument
lights.

The pink wire is power into the switch.

Dave,

If by instrument lights you are also meaning that the tach and speedo lights
go out, then try this:
Use a jumper wire with one end connected to a good ground on car and touch
the other end to the speedo or tach case.
If the dash lights come on - you have a grounding problem.

Good morning,

72 Pre-L Headlights work as designed.

Dash lights work as designed when low beams are on.

When you turn high beams on the instrument & dash lights turn off.

Turning low beam lights back on turns instrument and dash lights back on.

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Dave
