[DeTomaso] Strange electrical - instrument / dash light problem

Dave,

That seems super weird to me. My recollection is that interior and all other exterior lights are one a single tab on the headlight switch, and the headlamps alone are on another tab. Power flows from that tab to the high/low beam switch which routes power to the appropriate filaments in the headlights.

So the lights on the middle position of the headlight switch including interior lights have no interface with the high/low beam switch. I’m not doubting what you are reporting, I just can’t envision any way that could happen?
