Further to my previous message; I see they have a new model called
     the "T9",
without the dash cam, that's much cheaper ($175.99).
     -------------------------------------------------------
I recently purchased an AutoVox V5 Pro rear view mirror/camera. I
     bought it
from Amazon on Black Friday for 30% off! I learned about this item
     from a
guy who builds Superlite SLC's, which have no rear window at all. It
     is a
permanently installed rear view mirror, with built-in dash cam, that
replaces your existing rear view mirror. The rear camera stays on
     all the
time but when you shift into reverse, distance and guide lines
     appear. This
would be great for Pantera owners with high rise intake manifolds.
     You can
see it in the YouTube video below, between 0:45 and 1:15. The one in
     the
video is the older model. The new model comes with a better (Sony)
     rear view
     camera.

I pulled the drawer out and some of the batteries had leaked.? I am
seeing leaking AA and AAA batteries more than I ever recall in the

Brushed off the corrosion and replaced the batteries, looked OK,

     A Bud, Mike,
     As I suspected!
The CA? 70 Cougars/Mustangs had a smaller version of this box under
the dash.? It also hooked into the sensor on the speedo cable, and
then out to a vacuum solenoid which mounted on one of the valve
cover bolts.? I HAVE seen these valves on Pantera engines.......very
     original engines....!!!
The speedo sensor can be used to integrate into some cruise control
systems....... won't do a thing if not connected to anything......
If you "hose up" your Rancheroo to be a "1969" version you will be
fine.......take out all of the extra BS and reduce it to? 1) intake
supply vacuum to thermal switch on intake or thermostat housing 2)
ported vacuum from carb to thermal switch, and 3) thermal switch to
vacuum advance.??? Simple as you can get and still retain thermal
control of idle to be thermally controlled......ie stuck in traffic
and engine starts warming up....thermal switch is supposed to
provide full vacuum to dist, to raise idle for cooling the engine.?
Nothing wrong with that......... no HPs robbed!!! :)))
     Cheers!

A A HAVE seen these valves on Pantera engines.......very original
     A A engines....!!!
A A The speedo sensor can be used to integrate into some cruise
     control
A A systems....... won't do a thing if not connected to
     anything......
A A If you "hose up" your Rancheroo to be a "1969" version you will
     be
A A fine.......take out all of the extra BS and reduce it toA 1)
     intake
A A supply vacuum to thermal switch on intake or thermostat housing
     2)
A A ported vacuum from carb to thermal switch, and 3) thermal
     switch to
A A vacuum advance.A A Simple as you can get and still retain
     thermal
A A control of idle to be thermally controlled......ie stuck in
     traffic and
A A engine starts warming up....thermal switch is supposed to
     provide full
A A vacuum to dist, to raise idle for cooling the engine.A Nothing
     wrong
A A with that......... no HPs robbed!!! :)))
     A A Cheers!

A A Yes, this emission system can be totally removed and you would
     never
A A know it. It is a NOx device that only allows the vacuum advance
     to work
A A under certain conditions. When the outside temp. is below 60
     degrees or
A A so the vacuum advance is allowed, when it's above that temp,
     the vacuum
A A advance is only allowed when the vehicle is traveling around
     30mph or
A A faster. The hardware and wiring to do this varied from '70 -'72
     but
A A basically you have a temp. sensor, a sensor on the trans. and a
     control
A A module with a solenoid valve for the vacuum. For automatics the
     trans.
A A sensor is a line pressure switch and for manuals it's just a
     mechanical
A A switch that tells when it's in high gear. The control module
     switches
A A the vacuum source on or off to the vacuum advance depending on
     the
     A A temp. and/or speed. This emission system is a 'tack-on' like
     most of
A A the first-generation types and is not a part of the main wiring
     A A harness.
A A Here's a diagram of the layout of that system:

A A I'm guessing that it is a device to alter the vacuum to the
