John,
I had numerous conversations with Tom at Pocono and I would have to agree to disagree on this one, he made it very clear to me to leave the Pantera alone rather than build another iteration on top of the current design. He simply suggested building a completely different car from the ground up.

I had the honor of guiding him through the Pantera corral and listen to his observations. He had little interest in the stock Panteras and delighted in seeing the creative modifications to his design. His top choices and ultimate #1 pick went to a modified car. He loved the flares, etc. He welcomed people applying their creative vision to his design.

To correct the record, Tom would not be rolling over in his grave at
those modifications. Tom was the judge at the POCA Lone Star Fun Rally

All,
So I know this guy Ernie Bock, his father was a car dealer on the
south
shore of Boston. Erie is the son who plays in a band Erie and
the
Mechanics. He has a number of pantera's and more money than he
knows
what to do with in my opinion. Now sure why he did not source
another
project car for this gut job after seeing the pristine shape this
one
was in to cut it apart like that. I am sure Tom Tjaarda was
spinning
in his grave when they cut that one apart based on some of the
conversations I used to have with him about leaving the pantera
alone
rather than updating it......just build a new car he used to say.
About 3 months ago I saw this car driving on an offramp early
morning
here outside of Boston.....I was a little confused as to what it
was
given the distance but I am pretty sure this was the
car.......now that
it is finished. Erie lives not to far from me and he used to
come to
Lynnfield to play Sunday morning gigs in a local barn with Sib
Hasian
drummer from the band "Boston" who died a couple years ago while
in the
middle of a set on a "rock cruise" somewhere in the Caribbean.
That is the "rest of the story"

They took what was probable the most rust free stock Pantera in
North
America and destroyed it. I'm sure that the finished car will
probably
be a great car but, it won't be a Pantera in my eyes.
